When we started our business many, many years ago our first product was a Probiotic Dog Treat. At the time we were ahead of the curve and not many dog owners realised how useful these could be for their dogs but now Probiotics are everywhere – food, treats, drinks, cosmetics…so why have we now launched a Postbiotic Gut Health Supplement? Simply because Postbiotics are more effective than probiotics.
I still speak to more people every day about gut problems with their dogs than any other issue and they are often linked to food allergies or intolerances but can also be the result of an illness, a course of antibiotics or something that they have eaten that they shouldn’t have!
Digestive issues can be particularly distressing for dogs (and their owners) as dogs are often fed the same thing twice a day, every day so any problems are intensified. Unlike us, they don’t have the option of choosing what they eat so they either eat or they don’t which creates its own set of problems.
So what can you do to help if your dog has an upset stomach and to maintain ongoing good gut and immune health?
Your Dog’s Gut
Your dog has millions of bacteria in their gut, both good and bad and the balance of these bacteria must be maintained to keep the gut healthy and operating efficiently and effectively.
If this balance is disrupted, then the dog will start to feel unwell and you may notice some or all of the following symptoms
- Blood or mucus in their poo
- Loose stools
- Flatulence
- Diarrhoea
- Gurgly tummy
- Lethargy
- Chewing at paws
- Scratching
- Refusal to eat
- Vomiting
This range of symptoms is because this balance is not only important for gut health but also the immune system as 80% of the immune system is in the gut. You will know that if you have an upset stomach it can affect your hair, skin and energy levels and it is the same for our dogs, so we need to correct that balance as quickly as possible
What can we do to help?
It can be a minefield trying to figure out what is the best way to help our dog with an upset stomach so which is the best product to choose?
Prebiotics
These are the food for probiotics and promote the growth of good bacteria, you may see these on food ingredient labels as FOS (Fructooligosaccharides) and MOS (Mannanoligosaccharides) and we put these in Feelwells food. Although they do help to promote digestion they are not enough alone to correct any imbalance.
Probiotics
These are the traditional treatments for an upset gut, they are live bacteria and work to correct the balance of the gut. However, as they are live bacteria, they are very fragile so during manufacture, storage and transit to the gut, they start to die off so the amount that is originally used is not the amount that arrives in the gut. Probiotics are effective but there is a better option…
Postbiotics
These are not live but they are bio-active so have all the benefits of probiotics but are totally stable and so much more effective. This is why we developed our Postbiotic Gut Health Supplement.
Why use the Postbiotic Gut Health Supplement?
We wanted to make our Postbiotic Gut Supplement as effective and easy to use as possible so:-

- Made from delicious 96% Duck so highly palatable
- Cold Pressed so easy to digest

- Suitable for all dogs from 8 weeks
- Natural, healthy & hypoallergenic
- No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives
- No sugar or salt
- Will last one month for a dog up to 15kg
Gentle and effective, can be fed every day to support your dog’s gut health & immune system
Perfect for puppies – those early months are critical for healthy development, as we all know puppies eat everything that they find on the floor so can easily get an upset tummy and feeding this supplement every day can keep their system healthy and help them to recover more quickly from any upset tummies.
It can also be beneficial to dogs that do have food allergies or intolerances or have food related conditions such as CECS (Canine Epileptoid Cramping Syndrome)
If your dog has undergone a course of antibiotics then they will probably get loose stools or even diarrhoea. This is because antibiotics do exactly what they say – they kill all bacteria, which is perfect for resolving the original problem but leaves the gut with a different problem. Postbiotics are more resistant to antibiotics so you can use these alongside and afterwards to get your dog’s gut back up and running much quicker.
Now of course we are going to say that our Postbiotic Gut Health Supplement is a great product but our customers are saying it too, take a look at some of the reviews that we have received so far – the reviews speak for themselves.
Who knew that – for just a few pounds – such a big difference in a dog’s gut health could be achieved!? Well done Feelwells – an outstanding product! Going forward, I will be permanently using this postbiotic for Archie, as it has made a whole world of a difference to his health. ..no cramping, no loose poop, he’s a happier dog all-round and in turn that has made me a happier owner too. Thanks again for firstly drawing my attention to the fact that postbiotics for dogs were even ‘a thing’ and secondly for allowing us to sample it as part of the trial. I will continue to promote this to other dog owners who have similar problems with their dog that I had
I recommend this supplement to everyone I meet whose dog has allergies because it’s helped my boy so much. He is much happier on it and recovers very quickly if he has snuffled up something he can’t have. He is happy to eat them and loved them the very first time, which was a first!
I never really thought about feeding extras to my dogs food but this has changed my mind. He regularly suffers from vomiting and or grumbly tummy this has certainly helped his recovery time and lessened the time between bouts. I will definitely carry on feeding the postbiotic to keep his tummy happy.
Ruby has been stable since taking the supplement with no GI symptoms, so I will continue to use it.
I have found it particularly useful in tempting Jeff to eat when he goes off his food. His wind is much less, and his stools are firm
Seems to make a difference to gurgling tummies and Tilly loves them.
Stanley’s rumbling tummy has greatly improved. His poo is more solid and he is going just twice a day. I have already purchased another pack and recommended it to a friend. It will definitely be a regular purchase.
Has stopped most foot chewing and improved his poops no end.
Even though my trial pack has run out, I have purchased further packs and it is well tolerated by my Border Terrier that has CECS.
Gribble’s tummy has much improved and he has experienced fewer episodes of cramp, gurgling and pain, so that is great. Stools improved.
Brilliant product, so beneficial to my dog – I will continue to recommend this product to anyone who has a dog with similar symptoms
